RANGPUR: The district administration launched sale of essential products of Trading Corporation of Bangladesh (TCB) among low-income group people here on Wednesday.
Deputy Commissioner Dr Chitralekha Nazneen inaugurated selling of daily essential commodities at subsidised rates at a function held at the Diabetic Samity ground in Radhaballav area of the city as the chief guest.
Each card holder beneficiary can purchase essentials, including one-kg of sugar, two-kg of lentils and two-liters of soybean oil, at a cost of Taka 420 from TCB dealers across.
The deputy commissioner said sale of TCB products began among one crore families across the country as per directives of the Prime Minister’s Office and Commerce Ministry to keep prices of daily necessities at reasonable and bearable levels.
“Till November last, over 2,567 tonnes of sugar, 3,994 tonnes of lentil, 39,94,368 litres of soybean oil, 570.62 tonnes of chickpeas and 122.98 tonnes of onion were sold among the beneficiaries of the district in seven phases,” she said.
Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Md Golam Rabbani, Rangpur Regional Office Chief of TCB Pratap Kumar and other officials were present at the function.
