Rangpur Range DIG inaugurates refrigerated mortuary

THAKURGAON: Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Bangladesh Police for Rangpur Range Mohammad Abdul Alim Mahmud inaugurates a refrigerated morgue or mortuary at Thakurgaon Sadar Police Station on Tuesday.

A morgue or mortuary is a place used for the storage of human corpses awaiting identification, removal for autopsy, respectful burial, cremation or other methods of disposal. In modern times, corpses have customarily been refrigerated to delay decomposition.

Superintendent of Police of Thakurgaon Mohammad Jahangir Hossain, Executive Director of development agency ESDO Muhammad Shahid Uz Zaman, Commandant of In-Service Training Center (Superintendent of Police) Md Nashir Uddin Jubair, Additional Superintendent of Police (Crime) Md Asaduzzaman, Additional Superintendent of Police (Sadar Circle) Sultana Rezia, officer-in-charge (OC) of Sadar Police Station Md Kamal Hossain and Thakurgaon Press Club president Munsur Ali, among others, were present on the programme.

The mortuary, built at a cost of about 8 lakhs, was financed by the development organisation Eco-Social Development Organisation (ESDO) in collaboration with Palli Karma-Sahayak Foundation (PKSF).
