The Bangladesh Cricket Board included uncapped Zakir Hasan in their 17-member squad for the first Test against India.
The youngster was included following his superb batting performance with the ‘A’ team in the two-match four-day series opener against their Indian counterparts where he saved the match by scoring an unbeaten century. He has been a regular domestic performer as well over the years.
The first of the two-match Test series starts at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram on December 14.
Meanwhile, Tamim Iqbal, who was earlier ruled out of the ODI series against India due to a groin injury, wasm’t named in the squad for the first Test.
Veteran batsman Mushfiqur Rahim returned to the squad while Yasir Ali and Taskin Ahmed were also included after sitting out the last Test assignments due to injuries.
However, Mustafizur Rahman, who was included in the last West Indies Test series due to injuries of the other pacers, has been excluded from the squad.
Injured Mosaddek Hossain was also excluded.
