Bangladesh A make 252 runs in first innings

Shahadat Hossain Dipu and Jaker Ali struck fifties but Bangladesh A could manage to score only 252 runs in their first innings on the opening day of the second unofficial Test against their Indian counterparts at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium in Sylhet on Tuesday.

Shahadat struck 80 off 138 balls while Jaker made 62 off 149 balls as the duo added 139 runs for the sixth wickets to rescue Bangladesh A from embarrassment after they were earlier reduced to 84-5 after being sent into bat first.

Apart from these two batters, Zakir Hasan scored 46 runs for the host team.

India A pacer Mukesh Kumar was the most successful bowler for the visitors as he finished with 6-40 while Umesh Yadav and Jayant Yadav took two wickets each.

India A, in reply, finished the opening day at 11-0 at stumps with Yashasvi Jaiswal and Abhimanyu Easwaran remaining not out on eight and three runs respectively.

Cheteshwar Pujara and Umesh, who are part of the India national team squad for two-match Test series against Bangladesh later this month, are taking part in the match.

Bangladesh’s Mosaddek Hossain failed to feature in the game after he sustained a thigh injury during a practice session a day before the match.

The first unofficial Test ended in a stalemate in Cox’s Bazar.
