Bashundhara Kings President Imrul Hassan said that winning the Independence Cup trophy will motivate them to clinch all domestic titles this season.

Although the country’s most successful club Kings bagged all domestic titles, they are yet to clinch a domestic treble in a single season.

Sheikh Russel earlier won a domestic treble – Federation Cup, Independence Cup and Premier League – in the season 2012-13.

“We want to win all major domestic titles before the next year’s AFC campaign and the Independence Cup win will motivate us to do it,” Imrul told The Daily Sun after Kings won the Independence Cup title on Monday.

Kings clinched the title of the 12th Independence Cup by beating Sheikh Russel Krira Chakra by 4(2)-1(2) goals in a tie-breaker of the day’s final at the Shaheed Dhirendranath Stadium in Cumilla.

Meanwhile, Imrul also hailed Sheikh Russel players for showing amazing football spirit in the match and he was also critical of some of Kings’ players for sloppy performance on the pitch.

“Sheikh Russel players showed amazing football spirit in the match. I would like to thank them for this performance,” said Imrul.

“Some of Kings’ players could do better on the pitch. I think they need to improve their performance,” he concluded.
