RAJSHAHI: A four-day workshop on accreditation for teachers and others concerned began at Rajshahi University (RU) on Monday with the main thrust of developing their capacity to evaluate and accredit the academic programmes being conducted in different faculties.
Initiated by the Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) has been hosting the workshop titled “Quality Assurance Towards Accreditation: Roles of Different Entities” since this morning.
IQAC Additional Directors Prof Moshihur Rahman and Prof Abdur Rashid Sarker also spoke on the occasion.
In his remarks, VC Prof Golam Sabbir said quality assurance is very important to get institutional accreditation in terms of higher education.
For this, quality assurance in education, research and other related matters of different organs of the institutions, including faculty, department and institutions has become mandatory.
To attain the cherished goal, the workshop will play a pioneering role.
Prof Sabbir Sattar said the country’s higher education system is designed under three structures—bachelors, masters’ and doctoral degrees.
Faculty deans and department chairmen and representatives from the deans and chairmen offices are taking part in the workshop.
They are being given ideas on how to prepare self-assessment reports and evaluate those to get accreditation of their academic programmes.
