At least 75 leaders and activists of BNP and its front organisations have been accused of a crude bomb explosion in front of BNP central office at Nayapaltan in the capital.
Three persons have, so far, been arrested in a case filed over the bomb blast.
The accused are Tariqul Islam, Abu Bakkar, BNP activist Abu Chayed Patwari, Dhaka south unit Jubo Dal convener Golam Maula Shahin, Paltan Thana Jubo Dal General Secretary Leon Hossain, BNP Ward-13 General Secretary Sarfuddin Kham Munna, Dhaka south unit BNP joint convener Sekender Qadir,
Paltan Thana Chhatra Dal Member Secretary Maudud Ahmed and Paltan Thana Chhatra Dal Joint Convener Mahbubur Rahman Imtiaz.
According to the case statement, the BNP men threw a crude bomb at policemen from a procession, creating panic among people.
Witnesses, however, said the crude bomb was thrown from a moving vehicle.
Shortly after the incident, additional policemen were deployed in the area to avoid any untoward situation.
Tuku was arrested in an arson case filed with Motijheel Police Station on December 1. He was being taken to a Dhaka court, the sources added.
Earlier on Saturday night, police detained him in Amin Bazar area while he was returning to the capital from the BNP rally in Rajshahi.
