10 mayor aspirants file nomination

A total of ten mayor aspirants submitted nomination papers for contesting Rangpur City Corporation elections scheduled to be held on December 27.

A total of 277 candidates submitted nomination papers for contesting a mayoral, 27 general ward councillors and 11 reserved ward councillors post.

Out of them, ten submitted nomination papers for contesting the mayoral post, 198 for general ward councillors and 69 for reserved ward councillors posts.

The Election disclosed the information of the candidate on the last day of submitting the nomination paper on November 29. The mayoral aspirant’s submitter nomination papers are Hosne Ara Lutfa Dalia of Bangladesh Awami League, Md. Mostafizar Rahman of Jatiya Party, Md. Amiruzzam from Islami of Andolon Bangladesh, Md. Abu Raihan of Bangladesh Congress, Md. Touhidur Rahman Mandal of Khelafat Majlish, Md. Shafiar Rahman of Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal and Md. Khorshed Alam of Jaker Party.

Three independent candaites are Md. Latifur Rahman, Md. Ataur Rahman Babu and Md. Mehedy Hassan. Nomination papers will be scrutinised on December 1 and the last date for withdrawal of nomination papers is December 8. Poll symbols will be distributed on December 9.
