Bangladesh Reconditioned Vehicles Importers and Dealers Association (BARVIDA) urged the Mongla Port Chairman to issue ‘port pass’ for its members.
The BARVIDA leaders made the request while exchanging views with the Mongla Port Authority (MPA) Chairman Riar Admiral Mohammad Musa on Monday.
They also urged the port authorities not to increase wharf rent "during this critical economic situation."
BARVIDA emphasised speedy dredging of Poshur river so that big ships could
land in the port as vehicle imports surged after inauguration of Padma Bridge.
The delegation led by its BARVIDA president Md Habib Ullah Dawn include vice presidents and the executive members.
They expressed gratitude to the MPA chairman for the all out cooperation provided at the port.
High officials of the Mongla Port Authority were present at the meeting.
BARVIDA Joint Secretary General Belal Uddin Chowdhury, Treasurer Mohammad Anisur Rahman, Publication and Publicity Secretary Md Jashim Uddin and Cultural Secretary Jobaer Rahman also attended the meeting.
