Dr Milon Day observed

Dr Milon Day was observed on Sunday, commemorating 32nd martyrdom anniversary of Dr Shamsul Alam Khan Milon who was killed during the 90s' anti-autocratic movement.

Dr Milon, the joint secretary of the Bangladesh Medical Association, was killed near the Teacher-Student Centre of Dhaka University (DU) on November 27, 1990.

Different socio-cultural and political organisations as well as professional  bodies arranged elaborate programmes to mark the day.

They placed wreaths at Milon’s grave on the campus of Dhaka Medical College and at Milon Smrity Chattar near the TSC on the DU campus.

The ruling Awami League and its associate bodies also placed wreaths and offered prayers at Milon’s grave.

All-Party Student’s Unity leader Nazmul Haque Prodhan, Noor Ahmed Bakul, Shafi Ahmed, Ruhin Hossain Prince, Belal Choudhouri, Razu Ahmed and others placed wreaths at 8:30am at Dhaka Medical College and at Dr Milon’s memorial at TSC premises of DU.

The BMA, the Swadhinata Chikitsak Parishad, the Doctors Association of Bangladesh, the Janashasthya Sangram Parishad, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University, different professional bodies and Milon’s family members placed wreaths at his grave and offered prayers there too.
