South Zone will take on North Zone in the final of the Bangladesh Cricket League one-day version today at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur.
South Zone finished the league stage by winning all three games while North Zone confirmed their final berth after winning their last two games.
Meanwhile, South Zone head coach Mizanur Rahman said that he is very pleased with the performance of seasoned cricketers like Naeem Islam and Nasir Hossain apart from in-form Mohammad Nayeem, who scored three successive half-centuries.
“I just asked Nayeem to play his natural game. Being with him and watching him play from close quarters during his stint with ‘A’ team, one thing I have understood is that he can give his best when he has the freedom to play his game,” Mizanur said.
Meanwhile, it was learnt that BCL T20 is expected to be played after the tournament while two rounds of BCL four-day games will be played before the upcoming Bangladesh Premier League.
But whether the BCL T20 will be played or not is subject to board president Nazmul Hassan Papon’s approval, said a BCB official. The other two rounds of BCL will be played after the BPL.
