Bollywood’s famous record company Saregama (HMV) has released new version ‘Mera Kuch Samaan’ featuring Bangladeshi recitation artiste Samiul Islam Poluck and singer Priyangbada Banerjee.
In 1987, HMV released the original song from the movie Ijaazat with vocals by Asha Bhosle. The original song was composed by RD Burman, with Gulzar writing the lyrics.
To celebrate the success of this song after 35 years, Saregam released a reinterpretated version of the song on November 18.
About the song, elocutionist Poluck Said, “Mera Kuch Samaan is a lyrical masterpiece that will tug at your heartstrings; the song is the perfect love letter to a painful goodbye by Gulzar Saab. It was a great experience to revisit the whole emotions with such brilliant singer like Priyangbada. It goes without saying that the Saregama Music Company is a treasure trove of Indian music. The collection of legendary musicians of Indian music in almost all languages of India is really astonishing and I am really honoured to be featured from Saregama Music through ‘Mera Kuchh Samaan’.
The song was rearranged and programmed by Saikat Biswas Goblo. The song was recorded by Vijay Dayal at Yashraj Studios in Mumbai. The Video was directed by Shwapnil Shojib, cinematography is by Subhodeep.
