‘Nakshi Kanthar Jomin’ nominated for ICFT-UNESCO Gandhi Medal

Acclaimed actress Jaya Ahsan starrer film ‘Nakshi Kanthar Jomin’ (A Tale of Two Sisters) has been nominated for ICFT- UNESCO Gandhi Medal at the International Film Festival of India (IFFI). This award is a commemorative medal for the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi.

Directed by Akram Khan, ‘Nakshi Kanthar Jomin’ is a government grant film. The movie is based on Hasan Azizul Haq’s novel ‘Nakshi Kanthar Jomin’.

Jaya Ahsan wrote on Facebook, “I feel very honoured and happy that our film ‘Nakshi Kanthar Jomin’ (A Tale of Two Sisters) has been nominated for the ICFT-UNESCO Gandhi medal award at the 53rd International Film Festival of India (IFFI), one of the world’s leading film festivals. The film is based on the Liberation War of Bangladesh and its central character is a woman. My heartfelt love and gratitude to my unit and all others involved in the film.”

Director Akram Khan also shared the same post.

The world premiere of ‘Nakshi Kanthar Jomin’ will be held on November 25 in Goa, India, the main venue of the fest.

Besides Jaya Ahsan, actors Rawnak Hasan, Fariha Shams Sheuti, Iresh Zaker, Dibbyojyoti, Soumyojyoti and others will be seen acting in the movie.
