After witnessing a downward trend in the three sessions, stocks on Wednesday rebounded in the Dhaka and Chittagong stock exchanges as investors remained active on sector-wise issues.
DSEX, the prime index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), went up by 35.02 points or 0.56 per cent to settle at 6,253.35. Two other indices also ended higher with the DSE 30 Index, comprising blue chips, rising 8.62 points to finish at 2,191.66 and the DSE Shariah Index (DSES) advancing 9.37 points to close at 1,356.85, reports BSS.
Gainers took a strong lead over the losers, as out of 323 issues traded, 76 advanced, 13 declined and 234 issues remained unchanged on the DSE trading floor.
Sino Bangla was the day's top gainer, rising 9.93 per cent, while Sonali Ansh was the worst loser, shedding 7.44 per cent.
The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also rebounded with the CSE All Share Price Index - CASPI -gaining 7.25 points to settle at 18,474.87 and the Selective Categories Index - CSCX rising 3.84 points to close at 11,070.24.
Of the issues traded, 17 declined, 40 advanced and 73 issues remained unchanged on the CSE.
The port city's bourse traded 35.27 lakh shares and mutual fund units with a turnover value of Tk 8.90 crore.
