Bangladeshi children perform in Hong Kong

Bangladeshi children performed at the ‘International Ethnic Cultural Performances’ in Hong Kong. Initiated by Bangladesh Consulate General and Bangladeshi community members, the event was held at Cultural Centre Piazza in Hong Kong on Sunday.     

 To celebrate the 25th anniversary of the establishment of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR), the event was organised by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department with the support of twenty-three countries including Bangladesh.

 Featuring the theme of ‘The Art of Masks’, 12 Bangladeshi children performed traditional, folk and ethnic dance. The Consul General of Bangladesh, Israt Ara was invited to the opening ceremony, according to a press release.

 The event showcased the art and culture of different parts of the world through a variety of performances and activities of Bangladesh, Hong Kong, Cambodia, Colombia, the Dominican Republic, Hungary, Indonesia, Iran, Japan, Kazakhstan, Korea, Kuwait, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Nepal, Nigeria, the Philippines, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, South Africa, Thailand, the United Arab Emirates and Venezuela.

 Apart from the stage performances, different traditional masks were displayed which include masks of the Bengali New Year celebration, Japanese Kagura masks, Cambodian Lakhon Khol masks, the Colombian mask of the Barranquilla Carnival and Thai Khon masks.
