Indian artistes enthralled the audience by singing songs and performing dance at a cultural programme in Dhaka on Saturday.
The Indian Association of Bangladesh (IABD) organised the programme at International Convention City Bashundhara (ICCB), marking the Deepawali festival.
Spouse of High Commissioner Pranay Kumar Verma and spouse of Bashundhara Group Managing Director Sayem Sobhan Anvir were also present.
Music lovers, who used to enjoy the shows of the noted Indian artistes on televisions, thronged the ICCB auditorium to quench their thirst
for music.
Addressing the programme, Pranay Verma said, “I congratulate the members of the Indian Association of Bangladesh. They are playing a special role in promoting Indian culture in Bangladesh. The Indian High Commission is always working for the development of this community. They are like a family.”
Bashundhara Group Managing Director Sayem Sobhan Anvir said, “Such Deepawali arrangement in Bangladesh is really amazing. I am very happy to attend such an event. And I hope this event will bring joy and happiness in the hearts of all of you.”
The IABD president Ajay Agal said, “This festival is a symbol of happiness and prosperity. The streets of the city are decorated with garlands of lights. In the light of various lights, lamps, candles, the surrounding darkness disappears. May all obstacles in your life be removed this Deepawali. May you all have a good start in life.”
The main attraction of the event was Indian Idol Abhijeet Sawant. This Indian music sensation drenched the audience with the rain of tunes spreading the melody in the auditorium.
