Awami Juba League, the youth front of the ruling Awami League, is set to stage a huge showdown at historic Suhrawardy Udyan in the capital today, marking its 50th founding anniversary.

Leaders and activists from across the country will join the rally to be addressed by AL President and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

Insiders say that the rally will be a showdown for the ruling camp as BNP has staged showdowns across the country and announced that the country would run on the directive from Khaleda Zia from December 10.

The Juba League announced that some one million people will join the rally and the streets will remain under control of the youth wing so that BNP-Jamaat clique can no way create anarchy in the name of any anti-government movement.

“After November 11, Juba League leaders and activists will resist the BNP-Jamaat and their followers on the street if they try to make any anarchy,” Juba League Chairman Sheikh Fazle Shams Parash said, adding that BNP-Jamaat is trying to create unstable situation in the country.

Bangladesh Awami Juba League commonly known as Juba League is the first youth organisation of Bangladesh founded by Sheikh Fazlul Haque Mani under the direction of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman through a youth convention at the Institution of Engineers on November 11, 1972.

The organisation was established with the aim of involving the youths in the struggle for a non-communal, democratic and exploitation-free Bangladesh.

Nowadays, Juba League has become the largest youth organisation in the country through the long struggle and sacrifices of thousands of leaders and workers for over four decades.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Thursday hoped that the Juba League, with the help of the youth of the country, will build a hunger-and poverty-free 'Sonar Bangladesh' being imbued with the spirit of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman combating all the conspiracies, reports BSS.

With the spirit of the great Liberation War and indomitable vigour Bangabandhu had ignited and instilled in the hearts of the youth of this country, the Juba League along with the youth, will build a hunger- and poverty-free and happy and prosperous Sonar Bangladesh facing all the conspiracies, she said in a message issued on the eve of the 50th founding anniversary of Juba League.

“I extend my sincere greetings and congratulations to all the leaders and workers of the Juba League on its anniversary,” she said.

She also remembered with deep respect the greatest Bangalee of all time, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and the founder of Juba League martyr Sheikh Fazlul Haque Mani and all the Juba League leaders and activists who embraced martyrdom in the democratic movement in the country.

Under the strong, dynamic, courageous, and magical leadership of the Father of the Nation, we got our own nation, state and proud identity, she added.

Bangladesh Awami Juba League was created with the aim of involving the youth force for the reconstruction of the newly independent war-torn country, Sheikh Hasina said.
