National Museum of Science and Technology (NMST) has received the carcass of a dolphin, which was recently found dead in the Halda River, from Chattogarm University (CU) for preservation.

The dead dolphin had earlier been kept in the research lab of the university’s Geology Department.

Geology Department Chairman Dr Md Manzoorul Kibria, also director of the lab, handed over the carcass to NMST Director General Muhammad Munir Chowdhury on Sunday.

Munir Chowdhury said the killers of dolphin must be brought to book while those who will inform law enforcers of the matter must be rewarded.

Local administrations, Department of Fisheries and River Police will have to play a vital role in protecting the biodiversity of rivers across the country, he said.

The DG also said they will render assistance to setting up a river museum in Chattogram University.
