‘Non-formal education essential for sustainable development  goals’

An eight-day workshop on non-formal education programme began at Begum Rokeya University, Rangpur (BRUR) on Saturday.  Vice-Chancellor of the university Prof Dr Md Hasibur Rashid inaugurated the workshop as the chief guest. The workshop has been organised under the initiative of Non-Formal Education, Research and Extension Cell (BNREC) of the university.

In his speech, the VC said non-formal education programs should be continued to spread education at all levels to achieve sustainable development goals. If this management is made permanent, the benefits can be reaped quickly.  He also called for bringing technology-based education under non-formal education programme to face the fourth industrial revolution.

Member Secretary of BNREC and Assistant Professor of the Department of Agriculture and Environmental Science Syed Anwarul Azim presided over the ceremony while Dean of Arts Faculty Prof Dr Abu Saleh Mohammad Wadudur Rahman, UNESCO Chief of Field Office Najibullah Hamim, Rangpur Civic Foundation Chairman Dr Nurul Akhter and Executive Director Dr Rahmat Ullah, Assistant Director of BNFE Md Mushfiqur Rahman, among others, spoke at the function.
