Youth gets life in narcotics case in Cox’s Bazar

COX’S BAZAR: A court in Cox’s Bazar sentenced a young man to life imprisonment in Yaba smuggling case on Thursday.

The court also fined him Tk 1,10,000, in default, he will have to suffer two years and one month more in jail.

Cox’s Bazar Additional District and Sessions Judge Abdullah Al Mamun handed down the verdict.

The condemned convict is Mamunur Rashid, 20, a resident of Pashchim Maheshkhalia Para under Teknaf upazila.

Faridul Alam, public prosecutor of the court, confirmed the matter.

According to the prosecution, the convict was arrested along with Yaba on May 3, 2021.

On Thursday, after taking depositions of 13 witnesses, the court delivered the verdict.
