The numbers of dengue patients and casualties from the deadly disease have continued to rise across the country, including in Dhaka city.

Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) said 750 dengue patients were hospitalised in the country in the last 24 hours till Tuesday morning. And no death was reported during the period.

Of the 750 cases, 494 were reported in hospitals of Dhaka city while 256 patients were hospitalised outside the capital.

However, sources said the unofficial figure of the number of dengue patients and casualty from the deadly disease is higher than the official records.

A number of patients are out of the report as many patients didn’t admit to hospitals and took treatment from

Out Patient Departments and in private chambers of the doctors, the sources added.

The DGHS report said at least 16,624 dengue patients were admitted to hospitals across the country, including in Dhaka city, while 63 patients died here in only 25 days of October this year.

The prevalence of dengue disease is rising across the country, especially in Dhaka, which is considered a hotspot for the mosquito-borne viral disease.

The DGHS said a total of 32,776 dengue patients have been admitted to hospitals and at least 118 patients have died across the country, including in Dhaka, this year.

The DGHS data further said a total of 3,416 dengue patients are now undergoing treatment across the country. Of them, 2,224 patients were admitted to 54 hospitals in Dhaka city.
