As elsewhere in the country, life almost came to a standstill in the capital due to heavy rains triggered by cyclone ‘Sitrang’ on Monday.

Commuters suffered immensely due to waterlogging and traffic congestion in the city.

Although it rained lightly in the beginning, it started raining heavily in the afternoon. The sun was not seen all day long.

Those who came out of their houses were stuck in traffic jams. Besides, waterlogging on streets has caused suffering to commuters.

After coming out of the office, a commuter said that he was not getting a bus to return to his home. He said he was not sure when he would be able to return to his residence.

Many students said that it was difficult for them to get vehicles. They also suffered due to traffic jams and waterlogging on the roads. They had to sit in the jam for hours.

People in Rangpur, Rajshahi, and most parts of the country are experiencing heavy rain.

Meteorologist Manowar Hossain said, "After the storm crosses the coast, this rain may continue till noon tomorrow."
