ONDC to play role in expanding online SMEs entrepreneurs

Speakers at a discussion on Saturday said that Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC) will play an important role in expanding online SMEs entrepreneurs.

They made the comment at a discussion titled ‘New Future of Digital Commerce’ at BASIS conference centre in the capital, said a press release.

High officials of Commerce Ministry, Bangladesh Bank, SME Foundation, BASIS and other trade oganisations took part in the event.

Chief Executive of ONDC India, Indian ONDC implementation organisation, T Koshi Mull in his speech outlined the ONDC’s work plan, possibility and challenges.

In his speech T Koshi said, “The open network e-commerce will bring a new revolution in the digital business, adding ONDC is such a network or process which can help people to connect each other by using a uniform protocol.”

BASIS President Rusell T Ahmed said government and private sector should work together to implement the new network in Bangladesh like India. BASIS is ready to provide technical assistance to Commerce Ministry and Bangladesh Bank in this regard.

Commerce Ministry Additional Secretary and e-commerce cell Chief Md Hafizur Rahman, BASIS former President Fahim Masrur, Bangladesh Bank Payment Division General Manager Mesbaul Haque, FBCCI Vice-President Amin Helali, SMEF General Manager Md Nazim Hasan Sattar, Pathao CEO and BASIS Director Fahim Ahmed, Mastercard Bangladesh Chief and BASIS Director Syed Ahmed Md Kamal, BASIS Director AKMN Ahmedul Islam Babu, Director Zia Ashraf, Seba Platform Chief Adnan Imtiaz, and Bangladesh Bank Senior System Analyst Joyonto K Voumik were also present in the discussion.
