Significance of Friday

Popular News

Today is the 4th Friday of Rabiul Awal. In the eyes of Islam, the days and nights of Holy Friday are extremely important. Friday is called the weekly Eid day. The reward and dignity of Friday is the same as Eid-ul-Fitr and Eid-ul-Azha. On this day, some big and great events happened in Islamic history. Five daily prayers can be offered in mosques, houses, offices, courts or shops, but Friday prayers cannot be offered outside the mosque. Therefore, on this day, Muslims from all walks of life, rich and poor, gather in the mosques of the Muslim world.

It is mentioned in the Holy Qur’an, ‘Believers, when the call to prayer is given on the day of Friday, hasten to the remembrance of Allah and stop trading. It is better for you if you understand.

It is a sin not to pray Friday:

Friday prayer has been made obligatory instead of Zuhr prayer. The two rakat farz prayers of Friday and the imam’s sermon have been replaced by the four rakat farz prayers of Zohar. On this day of the week, the Friday Khatib will give guidance and solution advice in the light of the Holy Qur’an and Hadith on all the important matters of the Ummah in his sermon. If you leave this prayer, terrible damage is mentioned in the hadith. For this, every Muslim must perform Friday prayers with importance.

Salman (RA) A hadith is narrated from Rasulullah (SAWS) said, ‘Whoever performs a good ablution on Jumu’ah, then uses oil and perfumes, then goes to the mosque, does not forcefully occupy a place between two worshippers, performs the prayer and when the imam delivers the sermon, Will listen to his sermon with silence. All his sins will be forgiven in the period between two Fridays.’ (Musnad Abu Dawud: 479)

Friday prayer is obligatory for every adult male. In a hadith, narrated by Hafsa (RA), Rasulullah (SAWS) said, It is obligatory for every (adult male) Muslim to offer the Friday prayer. (Sunan Nasa’i)

In fact, Friday prayers are very important and blessed. Many of us neglect Friday prayers. Jumu’ah prayer can never be abandoned unnecessarily and without reason. In this regard, strict warnings have been given in Shariah. Rasul (PBUH) Said, “Whoever neglects three Fridays, Allah will seal his heart.” (Tirmidhi Hadith: 502)

In another hadith rasool (PBUH) He said, “Whoever does not attend the Friday prayer without any disqualification and fear of harm, his name is recorded in the office of the hypocrite, which is never erased or changed.”

When the rakat of Friday prayer runs out:

If one’s Friday prayer is missed by one rak’at and the remaining one rak’at is left after the Imam returns his salam, then his Friday will be complete. Even if a similar person performs the Ruku of the second rak’at before, he will perform the Jumu’ah prayer if he prays that rak’at and another rak’at along with it.

But if one joins the congregation after finishing the ruku of the second rakat, then he will not be able to pray the Friday prayer. In this situation, he should join the congregation to perform four rakats of Zohar after returning the salam of the imam and perform four rakats fard. (Fatawa Islamiyah, Saudi Ulama-Committee: 1/418, 421)

And if one misses the Friday prayer or goes to the mosque and sees that the Friday has ended, then he should pray the Zuhr prayer. Because there is no Friday prayer without congregation.

In the hadith, Ibn Mas’ud (R.A.) said, “Whoever gets one rak’at on Jumu’ah, let him pray another rak’at.” But whoever does not bow (of the second rak’ah), let him recite four rak’ahs of Zohar.’ (Ibn Abi Shaiba: 621)

If an Imam Sahib leads the Jumu’ah prayer without ablution and remembers it at the end of the prayer, then the prayer of the Muqtadi will be valid. And the imam will recite four rak’at Zohar to perform that prayer. (Al-Muntaqah Min Fatawal Fawa: 3/68)

Many virtues of Friday have been described in the Holy Qur’an and Hadith. Allah Ta’ala has given importance to this day in the Qur’an, “O believers! When the call to prayer is given on the day of Jumu’ah, hurry to worship Allah and stop trading. It is better for you, if you understand.Surah Jumu’ah: 09 It is said in the hadith, Abdullah Ibn Yusuf (RA) and Abu Hurairah (RA) narrated that the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said, “Whoever performs ablution on Jumu’ah as a Janawat (obligatory) ablution and comes for prayer, he as if a camel sacrificed. A person who reaches the second stage is as if he sacrificed a cow. A person who reaches the third stage, as if he sacrificed a dumba with a horn. One who reaches the fourth stage is as if he sacrificed a chicken. He who has reached the fifth stage, has sacrificed an egg. Later, when the imam goes out to deliver the sermon, the angels appear to listen to the zikr. The significance of Friday in Islamic law is limitless. The day is named Juma because the various parts of the body of Hazrat Adam (AS), the first father of mankind, were joined or deposited on this day.

Allah Ta’ala has enriched the day of Jumu’ah with unlimited blessings. It’s the best day of the week. According to Hadith Sharif, this blessed day was specially bestowed by Allah Ta’ala to Ummah Muhammad (PBUH). The Prophet (Peace Be Upon Him) said, the best and most blessed day is Friday. On this holy day Hazrat Adam (AS) was created and on this day he was admitted to Paradise. (Muslim Sharif) Also, in Hadith Sharif, Friday has been declared as the weekly Eid day. It has been said that Friday is the day of your mutual meeting and weekly Eid. Therefore, it is not appropriate to fix this day for fasting. The night before Friday is also very important. It is said in Hadith Sharif that all the deeds of Bani Adam are presented in the court of Almighty Allah on the night before Friday. (Bukhari, Ahmad) May Allah grant us the grace to know and understand. Amen.
