Chased by rivals, 3 BCL leaders crushed to death by truck

Chased by the rival BCL group, three leaders of the Jhenaidah Government Veterinary College Unit of Chhatra League were killed under a truck on Friday night.

One of the deceased was Murad Hossain, the vice-president of the college chhatra sangshad while the two others were Tawhidul Islam and Samaresh Biswas.

The incident occurred on the Jhenaidah-Chuadanga road in Atharo Miles area at a11:00 pm:00pm.

Just before the incident, the general secretary (JS) of the college chhatra sangshad, was injured by a stabbing.

Sajib, who was admitted to Jhenaidah Sadar Hospital, said that they were returning to college from the town together on three motorcycles at night. At that time, members of another BCL group attacked them. He jumped into the pond when they attacked him with a sharp weapon.

They then attacked VP Murad and two others riding on motorcycles. The three then lost control over the motorcycle and collided with a truck, he said.

Sajib has a conflict with Fahim Ahmed, vice-president of the district Chhatra League, also a former student of the college, over the leadership.

Some students said that Murad, Sajib and some others reached the front of Johan Park on their way back to the campus from the Jhenaidah district town. The opponents attacked them with sharp weapons.

Several people, including Sajib, were seriously injured in the attack, the students said.

Then, the three people, including Murad, tried to escape the attack, but they were killed after being hit by it.

Jhenaidah Sadar Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Sheikh Mohammad Sohel Rana said the injured were rushed to Jhenaidah Sadar Hospital where the doctors declared them.

He said police were trying to arrest the attackers.
