Bangladesh U-17 clinch thrilling win

Hosts Bangladesh clinched a thrilling 2-1 goals win over Singapore in their opening Group E match of the AFC U-17 Asian Cup Qualifiers at the Bir Shrestha Shaheed Shipahi Mohammad Mustofa Kamal Stadium in the capital on Wednesday.

The match was heading towards a 1-1 finish before an own goal by the Singapore goalkeeper gave the hosts an exciting victory during the eighth minute of the stoppage time.

Earlier, Nazim gave the Bangladesh side a 1-0 lead in the 10th minute of the game before Singapore leveled the margin in the 28 minute.

Meanwhile, in the day’s opening game, Yemen humiliated Bhutan by 8-0 goals at the same venue.

Abdulrahman Abdullah, Adel Abbas Qasem, Mohammed Khaled Moqbel, Abdulrahman Al-khadher Abdulnabi, Mohammed Wahib Noman, Mohammed Ameer Albrwany, Anwar Hussein Al-turaiqi and Ahmed Adel Al-gumaei scored one goal for the winning side.

Bangladesh will face Bhutan in their second match while Yemen will take on Singapore on Friday, both at the same venue.

The top team of each of the 10 groups and the best six runners-up will qualify for the main event, scheduled in Bahrain next year.
