RANGPUR: Marking the 76th birthday of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, a local Awami League (AL) leader distributed 5,000 saplings of wood, fruit and medicinal plants among students in Mithapukur upazila here on Wednesday.
Joint General Secretary of Rangpur district AL Motahar Hossain Mondol Moula visited different educational institutions in all 17 unions of Mithapukur upazila and distributed the saplings to celebrate the birthday of Sheikh Hasina in a special way.
He called upon students to plant the saplings on their respective homesteads and take proper care to contribute to building a greener Bangladesh and improving the environment amid adverse impacts of climate change.
He suggested students to become worthy citizens with patriotic zeal and take part in the process of building a prosperous ‘Sonar Bangla’ as dreamt by Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman under leadership of Sheikh Hasina.
Talking to reporters, Maula said he distributed saplings to students of different educational institutions of all 17 unions of Mithapukur upazila marking the birthday of the mother of humanity Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina this time like in the previous years.
“Under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Bangladesh is now a role model for development in the whole world. We firmly hope that she will take this country forward and build a developed Bangladesh through her courage and foresight,” he said.
