Activists of the two groups of the Eden Mohila College unit of Chhatra League (BCL) were locked in a clash on the campus on Sunday afternoon, leaving at least 15 injured.

The clash took place a day after supporters of the college BCL president, Tamanna Jasmine Riva and general secretary Razia Sultana swooped on vice-president Jannatul Ferdous.

Jannatul Ferdous was physically assaulted on Saturday night as she gave an interview to the mass media about ‘extortion and seat trading’ by the president and the secretary.

After the incident, protest rallies and counter rallies were held on the campus on Sunday.

Over the attack on Jannatul Ferdous, 25 leaders of the college BCL declared Riva and Razia unwanted on the campus.

At a press conference in afternoon, they also threatened to resign from the organisation if it did not take against Riva and Razia.

Soon after the press conference, supporters of the two groups were locked in a clash in which at about 15 leaders and activists were injured.

Later, female policemen came and brought the situation under control.

Nazmun Nahar, super of Bangamata Sheikh Fojilatunnesa Mujib Hall of the college, told reporters that they will take action against those involved in the clash.

Meanwhile, BCL Central Committee formed a two-member body to look into the incident. The members --Tilottama Shikder and Benzir Hossain Nisi—were asked to submit probe report by Monday.
