Bangladesh Hockey Federation arranged a two-day long ‘beep test’ to categorise players based on their fitness ahead of the country’s maiden franchise hockey league ‘Bangladesh Champions Trophy - BCT 2022’, expected to be held from October to November.

A total of 71 players from the different premier division hockey clubs and BKSP participated on the first day of the beep test at the Maulana Bhashani National Hockey Stadium in the capital on Friday.

The federation hired a panel of 12 football coaches from Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club to conduct the two-day test.

BHF general secretary Mohammad Yousuf explained the reason to The Daily Sun.

“The beep test is the same for footballers and hockey players. We hired some 12 football coaches and trainers from Sheikh Jamal Club to conduct this test in a proper way. There are some BKSP players, so we didn’t put BKSP coaches in this panel,” Yousuf said.

The second and last day’s test will be held at the same venue today. More than 70 players are expected to join the test on this day.
