Bangladesh national women’s team will be looking to confirm their semifinal spot as group champions when they take on USA in their last Group A match of the ongoing ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Qualifier at Zayed Cricket Stadium in Abu Dhabi, UAE today.

The match is scheduled to start at 05:00pm (BST).

The Tigresses earlier defeated Ireland and Scotland in their opening two matches and are currently poised at top of the points table.

After defeating Ireland by 14 runs in their tournament opener, Bangladesh thrashed Scotland by six wickets on Monday to register their successive win in the tournament.

All-rounder Shohely Akhter, who returned to the national side after eight years, provided a match-winning performance of 4-7 in her four overs while Nahida Akter finished with 2-12 as Bangladesh bowled Scotland all out for only 77 runs in 19.3 overs.

In reply, Bangladesh reached 78-4 in 13 overs to complete another convincing win in the tournament.

Skipper Nigar Sultana Joty made the highest 34 runs while Murshida Khatun scored 15 runs in the run chase.

The top two teams from each group will progress to the semifinal, scheduled on Friday while the final of the tournament will take place on September 25.

Both the finalists will get a chance to play in the upcoming ICC Women’s T20 World Cup, scheduled in South Africa next year.

Bangladesh earlier became champions in previous two qualifying events.
