An Anthology of Bangladesh folk music: Folk Melody of Bangladesh

The book titled ‘Folk Melody of Bangladesh’ by Iftekhar Anwar comprises the findings of a decade-long research project, aiming to understand the origins and maintain Bangladesh’s traditional yet timeless folk music and culture.

The book is first ever of its kind in Bangladesh. The book pre-launch programme will be held at La Galerie of Alliance Française de Dhaka (AFD) today at 6:30pm.

Lalon singer Farida Parveen, Folk singer Arif Dewan, Folk music researcher and Hason Raja’s  Great Grandson Shamarin Dewan and Dr. Jesmin Buli will attend the book launching programme. 

The book is scheduled to be published in December 2022.

About the publication, Iftekhar Anwar said, “I thought I would complete this work within a week but today it has been nine years to complete the book. I would like to express my sincere thanks to all the well-wishers who have helped and participated in this extraordinary journey. I believe the world will experience this undiscovered treasure of Bangladesh’s folk songs through this book.”
