Two more die, 164 hospitalised

The number of dengue patients has been increasing day by day as over hundred patients have been admitted to hospitals every day in the last one month.

Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) said 164 new dengue patients have been admitted to hospitals in the last 24 hours till Friday morning. Two new deaths have been reported during the period.

Some 395 dengue patients were reported on Thursday, 389 on Wednesday, 353 on Tuesday, 345 on Monday, 360 on Sunday and 294 on Saturday in the country.

At present, out of the 164 patients, 138 are admitted to different public and private hospitals in the capital while the remaining 26 are hospitalised outside Dhaka, the DGHS said.

The DGHS reported that a total of 10,396 dengue patients have been admitted to hospitals and 42 patients have died across the country this year.

Some 4,215 dengue patients were hospitalised and 21 die in the country in

 only 16 days of the current month September while 3,521 patients were hospitalized and 11 patients died in August.

The DGHS data further said a total of 1,336 dengue patients are now undergoing treatment across the country. Of them, 983 patients are in the hospitals of Dhaka city.

Of the total dengue patients, around 90 percent patients are admitted to hospitals in 47 hospitals of the capital while around 10 percent patients were outside Dhaka.

Health authority sources said Den 4 dengue virus has been found in Bangladesh this year. That’s why people may suffer from severe dengue disease due to infection with the Den 4 virus, experts said.

The DGHS asked people to contact with registered doctors immediately after feeling any symptoms of the dengue disease and test and the dengue virus for early treatment.
