The main opposition in parliament Jatiya Party’s chief whip Moshiur Rahman Ranga, also the party’s presidium member, has been removed from the party posts.
“As per the party’s constitutional power, Jatiya Party chairman GM Quader has exempted party presidium member Moshiur Rahman Ranga from all posts of the party, including its primary membership. The order has already come into effect,” said a letter signed by Jatiya Party joint office secretary Mahmud Alam.
Talking to the Daily Sun about the removal order, Ranga said, “I reject this decision. GM Quader can’t implement this order.”
He said GM Quader is unhappy with him as he criticised the party chairman’s decision to remove Raushon Ershad from the post of leader of the opposition in parliament.
“GM Quader alone took the illegal decision about removing Raushon madam. There was no agenda about removing the opposition
leader in the meeting of the Jatiya Party’s parliamentary party. We didn’t sign for removing madam,” Ranga said.
Moshiur Rahman Ranga alleged that GM Quader is now carrying out activities following the BNP. “GM Quader has made a big deal with the party [BNP]. His men say he will be the Prime Minister in the next.”
Jatiya Party Chairman GM Quader on July 26, 2020 removed Ranga from the post of the party’s secretary general.
In the party’s national council session on December 28, 2019, Raushon Ershad was made the Chief Patron of Jatiya Party while GM Quader was elected chairman for the next three years. Later, GM Quader named Ranga as the party’s secretary general in the council.
On December 3, 2018, then Jatiya Party Chairman and founder HM Ershad appointed Ranga its secretary general removing ABM Ruhul Amin Howlader in a similar fashion.
