AL leader shot dead

Armed miscreants in broad daylight shot an Awami League leader to death in Pabna Sadar upazila on Friday.  

The killing incident took place at Najur junction at Char Bangabaria village of Hemayetpur union around 1:00pm.

The deceased was identified as Chhaidar Rahman, 50, son of late Haran Malitha of Kabalipara Mahalla of Bangabaria union.

He was a member of Pabna Municipal Awami League Executive Committee.

Municipal Awami League President Advocate Taslim Hasan Khan Sumon said Chhaidar was sitting in a tea stall at Najur Morr shortly before Friday prayers.   

In the meantime, some miscreants entered the tea stall and shot Chhaidar point-blank.  Being hit by several bullets, Chhaidar fell on the ground in a pool of blood and he was soon taken to hospital where doctors declared him dead.

Pabna Additional Superintendent of Police (Crime) Masood Alam said when everyone was busy with Jumma prayer in the mosque. Some miscreants shot Chhaidar and ran away from the scene. He said the killing might have happened due to previous enmity. It is not possible to say more than this without investigation.
