Speaker for publishing news giving utmost priority to parliament

Jatiya Sangsad (JS) Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chowdhury on Friday called for publishing news giving the highest priority to parliament, reports BSS.

News regarding the national parliament should be published with highest priority as the Jatiya Sangsad is the focal point of parliamentary democracy, she said.

The speaker said this while speaking on the occasion of the general meeting and election-2022 of Bangladesh Parliament Journalists’ Association (BPJA) organized at LD Hall of Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban as the chief guest, a press release said.

Highlighting the role of parliament, she further said that it JS accomplishes important public activities like bill passing, law making and coordinates among the executive, legislative and judicial branches of the state with the direct intervention of the elected members of parliament.

Deputy Speaker Advocate Md Shamsul Haque Tuku spoke as a special guest on the occasion. With BPJA President Uttam Chakraborty in the chair, the programme was conducted by BPJA General Secretary Kamran Reza Chowdhury.

Besides, members of BPJA and other dignitaries were present on the occasion.
