3 jailed for cyber crimes in Bogura, Joypurhat

RAJSHAHI: The Cyber Crime Tribunal of Rajshahi convicted three persons and sentenced them to two-years imprisonment on charges of their involvement in cyber crimes related to supplying fake SSC question papers in Bogura and Joypurhat districts around two and half years back, reports BSS.

Nishat Anam, 20, and Soikat Islam, 22, both of Chadpara village in Bogura Sadar Upazila and Mustafizur Rahman Hassan, 25, of Damdama village under Punchbibi upazila in Joypurhat district.

They were also fined Taka one lakh each, in default, to suffer six months more behind the bar.

Rajshahi Divisional Cyber Tribunal Judge Ziaur Rahman found them guilty of the charges and handed down the verdict here yesterday.

The convicts were present in the court dock when the verdict was pronounced.

Public Prosecutor of the tribunal Ismat Ara told the journalists that two separate cases had been lodged with the respective police stations against them related to their involvement in cyber crimes in early 2020.

Referring to the prosecution story, Ismat Ara said the persons were found engaged in earning money through supplying fake SSC question papers in their respective areas.

Upon completion of investigation police pressed charges against them.

After examining the recorded depositions of the enlisted prosecution witnesses and other relevant evidence, the tribunal pronounced the verdict of the two cases.
