Theatre troupe BotTala will organise a day-long programmes at the Nilima Ibrahim Auditorium of Bangladesh Mahila Samiti in the capital tomorrow, marking its 14th anniversary. With the slogan ‘Pran Opraner Songjoge Darak Ghure Prithibi’, the programmes will start at 11:00am.
The celebration programmes includes discussion ‘BotTalar Alap’, ‘Nadim Smriti Natyapadak 2022 Award’, and staging of the play ‘Rise and Shine’.
‘Rise and Shine’ is originally written by Italian playwrights Dario Luigi Angelo Fo and his wife Franca Rame. Eminent academic, writer and translator Abdus Selim translated the play into Bangla. Kazi Roksana Ruma will play the lead character. The other cast of the play includes Taufique Hassan, Shahnewaj Efte and Mahbub Masum.
BotTala started its journey on August 27, 2008. Since then, BotTala has produced successful plays like – ‘Dhamail’, ‘Khona’, ‘The Trial of Mallam Ilya’, ‘Crutcher Colonel’, ‘Marx in Soho’, ‘Rise and Shine’, ‘Madhushikari’, ‘Bonnotherium’.
BotTala’s notable street dramas are ‘Jatugriho’, ‘Ar Noi Khup Thaka’, ‘Sundarban Katha’, ‘Tamashanagar Model Thana’, ‘Rater Rani’, ‘Tumi e Bangladesh’,
Also in 2014, 2016 and 2019, BotTala organised three international theater festivals BotTala Rangamela’, which has been able to get a huge response among the theater audience of Bangladesh.
