Prize-giving ceremony of essay contest held at WUB

World University of Bangladesh (WUB) organised a prize distribution ceremony of an essay writing competition (college level), marking the golden jubilee of Bangladesh and martyrdom anniversary of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, said a press release.

Besides, WUB International Online Chess Competition was held on its Uttara campus in the capital on Monday.

The first, second and third prize winners of the essay contest received Tk 50,000, Tk 30,000 and Tk 15,000 respectively.

Besides, winners of chess competition received gold, silver and bronze medals along with certificates.

In the essay writing competition, Maryam Rahman of Dhaka Commerce College won the first prize while Ayesha Akhter of Shofiuddin Government Academy and College, Gajipur won the second prize and Md Rayhan Uddin of Government Tolaram College Narayanganj received the third prize.

In the WUB International Chess Competition, Noshin Anjum of Viqarunnesa Noon School and College became champion while Shams Sarar of Engineering University School and College and Nur Newaz Oyon of Dhaka Commerce College became first and second runners-up.

Renowned writer Masud Ahmed, also playwright and novelist, was present as the chief guest while Professor Dr Abdul Mannan Choudhury, vice-chancellor of the university, chaired the event.

Professor Dr M Nurul Islam, pro-vice-chancellor, Morsheda Choudhury, treasurer of WUB, registrar, proctor, controller, students and guardians were present on the occasion.
