Masudur Rahman Mukul and Gazi Sohel made history on Sunday when they became the first Bangladeshi umpiring pair to officiate an India-Pakistan encounter in Asia Cup.

Mukul, who previously officiated 17 ODIs and 23 T20Is, was the on-field umpire during the high-voltage Group A match of the ongoing T20 Asia Cup at Dubai International Cricket Stadium in Dubai, UAE alongside Sri Lankan Ruchira Palliyaguruge.

Meanwhile, Sohel, who previously conducted four Tests (all as a TV umpire), nine ODIs and 28 T20Is in his career, was the reserve umpire in the Indo-Pak T20I clash.

Sri Lankan Raveendra Wimalasiri was the TV umpire in the match while veteran New Zealander Jeff Crowe officiated the contest as match referee.

This was also the first time Mukul and Sohel officiated a match in Asia Cup in their career.
