Shahriar Emon gets maiden call

The Bangladesh Football Federation on Thursday announced a 27-member preliminary squad for the upcoming FIFA tier-1 international friendlies against Cambodia and Nepal.

Mohammedan Sporting Club winger Shahriar Emon received a maiden call in the squad while Sheikh Russel KC midfielder Hemanta Vincent Biswas returned to the squad.

Forward Nabib Newaj Jibon and goalkeeper Sohidul Alam Sohel failed to get a place in the preliminary squad while Meraj Hasan Opi, Papon Singh, Jafar Iqbal and Mahbubur Rahman Sufil, who were part of the Asian Cup Qualifiers’ squad, were also dropped from the side.

The highest 12 players were picked from Bashundhara Kings while four players from Saif Sporting Club got a call in the squad.

Kings’ two midfielders Tariq Kazi, Masuk Mia Zoni and two forwards Matin Mia, Suman Reza, who had injury problems earlier, also returned to the side.

The players from the preliminary squad are asked to report to the manager Iqbal Hossain today.

The residential camp will be conducted at the APBN ground in Uttara.

The two away FIFA friendlies against Cambodia and Nepal are scheduled on September 22 and 27 respectively.

Goalkeepers: Anisur Rahman Zico, Ashraful Islam Rana, Md Nayeem and Mahfuz Hasan Pritom

Defenders: Yeasin Arafat, Bishwanath Ghosh, Rimon Hossain, Tutul Hossain Badsha, Riyadul Hasan, Rahmat Mia, Rayhan Hassan, Tariq Kazi and Isa Faysal

Midfielders: Sohel Rana (Senior), Atiqur Rahman Fahad, Masuk Mia Zoni, Biplo Ahmed, Md Ibrahim, Rakib Hossain, Foysal Ahmed Fahim, Jamal Bhuyan, Hemanta Vincent Biswas and Sohel Rana (Junior)

Forwards: Sumon Reza, Matin Mia, Sazzad Hossain and Shahriar Emon.
