‘JK 1971’ wins Best Historic Film award at MIFF

National Film Award-winning filmmaker Fakhrul Arefeen Khan’s upcoming movie ‘JK 1971’   has won the Best Historic Film award at the Mumbai International Film Festival (MIFF) recently. 

‘JK 1971’ is the first English language film in the country. The film is based on the true story of French citizen Jean Kay, who hijacked a plane in 1971 at Orly Airport in Paris in support of the Bangladesh Liberation War.

Fakhrul Arefeen said, “JK 1971 is the first international film of the production house Gorai Films. Jean Kay hijacked a plane in 1971 in support of the Bangladesh Liberation War. We have tried to depict the whole story of the incident through the film. The shooting of ‘JK 1971’ has already been completed, now the film is waiting for its release date.”

The film is jointly produced by Md. Farid Khan and Fakhrul Arefeen Khan.

The casts of the film includes US actor Francisco Raymond and Russian artistes Derya Guvrosenko and Nikolai Novominski, alongside Subhra Sourav Das and Sabyasachi Chakrabarty in pivotal roles.
