Windies outplay Bangladesh A

Bangladesh A team suffered a crushing four-wicket defeat to their West Indies counterparts during the opening 50-over match of the three-match series at Daren Sammy National Cricket Stadium in St Lucia on Tuesday.

Sent into bat first, Bangladesh batters faced the wrath of the Caribbean bowlers as they were bowled out for only 80 runs in 23.2 overs.

Wicketkeeper-batsman Jaker Ali top scored with 25 runs while Soumya Sarkar (15) and Mohammad Mithun (12) were the only two other batters to reach the double-digit figure. Pacer Justin Greaves was the most successful bowler for the host team finishing with 4-25.

West Indies A, in reply, reached the target, 81-6, in 23.3 overs with Tagenarine Chanderpaul making the highest 23 runs.

Mukidul Islam and Mrittunjoy Chowdhury took two wickets each for the visiting side.

The second match of the series will take place at the same venue today.
