Archers clinch three medals

Bangladesh compound women’s team comprising Roksana Akter, Shamoli Ray and Puspita Zaman had to satisfy with a silver medal in the ongoing fifth Islamic Solidarity Games after they lost to hosts Turkiye by 222-229 points in the final of team discipline in Konya on Wednesday.  Both the teams earlier earned a ‘bye’ each to enter into the final.

Bangladesh also earned two bronze medals in the recurve events on the same day. 

The men’s team comprising Ruman Shana, Hakim Ahmed Rubel and Sagor Islam beat Saudi Arabia by 6-0 sets in the bronze medal-deciding match while the women’s team comprising Diya Siddique, Nasrin Akter and Beauty Roy beat Uzbekistan by 6-2 sets in the third place-deciding match.

Meanwhile, Bangladesh were eliminated from recurve mixed team, compound men’s and mixed teams events on the same day.

Bangladesh archery team will end their campaign with a bronze medal-deciding match of compound singles where archer Roksana Akter will take on Turkish Ayse Bera Suzer today.
