Shana, Diya knocked out from singles

Bangladesh’s two Olympian archers Ruman Shana and Diya Siddique were eliminated from the knockout phase of their recurve singles of the ongoing 5th Islamic Solidarity Games in Konya, Turkiye on Tuesday.

Shana lost to Uzbek Ungalov Ozodbek by 0-6 sets in quarters while Diya lost to Turkish Anagoz Yasemin Ecem by 3-7 sets in the quarters.

Compound archer Roksana Akter will play in the bronze medal match after she lost to Turkish Yesim Ucar Bostan by 146-148 scores in the semis. The Bangladeshi archer will play against Turkish Ayse Bera Suzer on Thursday.  

Meanwhile, the compound women’s team comprising Roksana, Shamoli Ray and Puspita Zaman will play the final against the hosts Turkiye today.

The men’s recurve team will play against Sudan in the pre-quarters while the mixed pair of Diya and Rubel will take on Pakistan in the pre-quarters. The women’s team advanced to the quarters after  having a bye.

The compound men’s team will play against Malaysia in the round of 4 while the compound mixed pair comprising Roksana and Ashikuzzaman will also play against Malaysia today.
