Bangladesh gymnasts Ali Kader Haque and Abu Saeed Rafi entered into the final of men’s individual vaulting table discipline of artistic gymnastics event of the ongoing fifth Islamic Solidarity Games at Konya Velodrome on Wednesday.

Ali Kader scored 12.950 while Abu Saeed 12.175 scored points to finish sixth out of 12 teams and confirmed their final berth, which was scheduled to be held on Thursday night.

Bangladesh women’s handball team, however, suffered elimination from the ongoing games after they conceded a 25-45 points defeat to Senegal in their third and last Group A match at Konya Selcuklu Municipality Sports Hall on Thursday.

The team earlier lost to Uzbekistan by 20-42 points and Turkiye by 10-51 points in their opening two Group A matches, both at the same venue.

Meanwhile Bangladesh were also eliminated from the men’s and women’s table tennis events, both held at Tuyap Konya International Fair Center on Wednesday.

The men’s team comprising Ramhimlian Bawm, Md Rifat Mahmud Sabbir and Mohutasin Ahmed Ridoy lost to Yemen by 0-3 sets in the men’s quarterfinals while the women’s team comprising Sadia Rahman Mou, Sonam Sultana Soma and Nowrin Sultana lost to Azerbaijan by 0-3 sets in the women’s quarterfinals.

Meanwhile, Bangladesh’s two high-jumpers – Ummay Hafsa Rumky and Ritu Akhter and the wrestling team were also scheduled to participate in their respective events on Thursday night.
