Bangladesh High Commission in New Delhi on Monday paid homage to Bangamata Fazilatun Nessa Mujib on the occasion of her 92nd birth anniversary.

The event was observed with due solemnity through holding a discussion and placing wreaths at her portraits at Bangabandhu Corner at the chancery building.

High Commissioner Muhammad Imran led the officers and staff of the mission in laying the wreaths.

He later presided over a discussion meeting on the life of Bangamata at the chancery’s Bangabandhu conference hall.

In his speech Muhammad Imran said Bangamata played a pivotal role in the making of Bangabandhu by inspiring him from behind the scene in helping him take crucial political decisions in different stages of national life. At the same time Bangamata quietly but very efficiently took care of their family through difficult times.

At the meeting, a message from President Abdul Hamid was read out by Deputy High Commissioner Md. Nural Islam, and another message from Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina by ADA, Wing Commander SM Ragib Samad.
