Bangladesh received a huge blow ahead of the upcoming T20 Asia Cup as wicketkeeper-batsman Nurul Hasan Sohan was ruled out of the tournament due to a finger injury.

The Bangladesh Cricket Board on Monday informed that Nurul, who had suffered a finger injury in the recent T20I series against Zimbabwe in Harare, underwent surgery at the Raffles Hospital in Singapore on the same day.

BCB Chief Sports Physician Debashis Chowdhury, who has accompanied Nurul to Singapore, said: “A closed reduction and pinning procedure was performed on Sohan’s (Nurul’s) left index finger by hand surgeon Dr Anthony Foo at the Raffles Hospital this afternoon. Recovery is estimated at three to four weeks.”

The upcoming T20 Asia Cup is scheduled to start in UAE on August 27.

Nurul will return to Dhaka today.
