To boost bilateral cooperation between Bangladesh and China, the countries on Sunday signed four deals on disaster management, cultural cooperation, marine science and handover of 8th Bangladesh-China Friendship Bridge in Pirojpur.

The documents were signed following a bilateral meeting between Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi and Bangladesh Foreign Minister AK Abdul Momen at Pan Pacific Sonargaon Hotel on Sunday morning, which lasted about two hours from 7:30am.

Wang arrived in Dhaka on Saturday evening and held bilateral meeting with his Bangladesh counterpart Foreign Minister AK Abdul Momen and paid a courtesy call on Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina when the two sides had wide range of discussions to boost cooperation and Bangladesh side reiterated its “One-China Principle”.

Following are the deals:

Certificate of Hand-over and Acceptance of the China-aid project of the 8th Bangladesh-China Friendship Bridge.              It was signed by Ambassador of China to Bangladesh Li Jiming and Secretary of Road Transport and Highways Division, Ministry of Road Transport and Bridges ABM Amin Ullah Nuri.

Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between China and Bangladesh on the Plan of Special Assistance of Disaster Prevention and Reduction.

This deal was inked by Ambassador of China to Bangladesh Li Jiming and Bangladesh side by Secretary of Economic Relations Division, Ministry of Finance Mrs. Sharifa Khan.

The deal on Cultural and Tourism Exchange Programme between Bangladesh and China for the Period from 2023 to 2027 was signed by Ambassador of China to Bangladesh Li Jiming and Secretary of Ministry of Cultural Affairs of Bangladesh Md Abul Monsur.

MoU between University of Dhaka and First Institute of Oceanography, Ministry of Natural Resources of China for Cooperation on Marine Science and Technology was signed by Ambassador of China to Bangladesh Li Jiming and Treasurer of University of Dhaka Prof. Mamtaz Uddin Ahmed.
