Bangladesh A team batters demonstrated a dismal batting performance against their West Indies counterparts during the opening four-day match of the two-match series at Daren Sammy Cricket Ground in St Lucia.

Skipper Mohammad Mithun struck 50 runs but others failed to support him well as Bangladesh A looked to be bowled out before crossing the 200-run mark in their first innings on the second day of the game on Friday.

Bangladesh A reached 159-8 in 50 overs when the report was filed with Rejaur Rahman Raja and Anamul Haque batting on eight and zero respectively.

Marquino Mindley claimed five wickets for the hosts while Justin Greaves also took two wickets. Earlier, only 43 overs’ play was possible to be held on the opening day on Thursday and Bangladesh finished the day at 135-6 after they were sent into bat first.

National opener Mahmudul Hasan Joy was dismissed without scoring while Saif Hassan and Shadman Islam made 20 and 17 runs respectively.
