Bangladesh missions abroad observed the 73rd birth anniversary of Sheikh Kamal, the eldest son of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, in a befitting manner.
In observance of the day, the missions chalked out elaborate programmes. The programmes include placing floral wreaths at the portrait of Sheikh Kamal, special prayers, readout of messages from the President and the Prime Minister and discussion meeting on life, works and contribution of Sheikh Kamal.
In observance of the day, officials of the Bangladesh Embassy in Tokyo, Japan led by Ambassador Shahabuddin Ahmed paid respect while observing the birth anniversary of Sheikh Kamal.
The programme started in the morning with placing of floral wreath at the portrait of Sheikh Kamal. It was followed by special prayer for Sheikh Kamal and all martyred family members of the Father of the Nation. The messages issued by the President and the Prime Minister on the occasion were read out by the embassy officials. Addressing on the occasion, Ambassador Shahabuddin termed Sheikh Kamal as the “ideal son of an ideal father.”
Highlighting some examples of his vibrant and youthful life and works, he mentioned that Sheikh Kamal was an iconic figure to the student and youth of the country.
Bangladesh Embassy in Kathmandu celebrated the 73rd birth anniversary of Sheikh Kamal. The programme began with laying flower wreaths at the portrait of Sheikh Kamal at the embassy premises by Ambassador Salahuddin Noman Chowdhury in presence of officials of the embassy and members of the Bangladesh community.
In the discussion session, messages given by the President and Prime Minister were read out and a documentary on the life and work of Sheikh Kamal was also screened. The discussants recalled Kamal’s contributions in the areas of sports and culture.
Ambassador Delwar Hossain, in presence of the expatriate Bangladeshis and the embassy officials, paid homage to the memory of valiant freedom fighter Sheikh Kamal by placing floral wreaths at his portrait. A special prayer was offered for the salvation of the departed soul of Sheikh Kamal, including the Father of the Nation, his martyred family members and all the valiant freedom fighters as well as the socio-economic development of the country.
A documentary on the life and work of Kamal was also screened in the programme. Then, the discussants highlighted the glorious life of Sheikh Kamal and his contributions to the political, cultural and sports arena of Bangladesh.
In his speech, Ambassador Delwar Hossain mentioned about the contribution of Sheikh Kamal in the War of Liberation who also inspired the youths to take part in the War of Liberation. Hossain touched upon his contribution to the development of sports and culture which remains a source of inspiration for the people of Bangladesh, particularly for the young generation.
He called upon all to draw inspiration from the glorious life of the valiant freedom fighter Shaheed Captain Sheikh Kamal and contributes to building ‘Sonar Bangla’- as dreamt by our Father of the Nation.
